I have used the following site search engines: Yahoo Search, Google Search, and even gave Zoom a try.
The thing is, I am not happy with ANY of them and I know there has to be better tools out there. The problem is finding them! Doing a search for search / search engine / site search / search tool, ANYTHING, returns a mess of results. 90% of them are usually some hack company that offers SEO.
What would developers here recommend? I want a LOCAL search system... Hosted on my server (powered by PHP or ASP), I am no fan of hosted searches like Google and Yahoo offer.
I'm hoping to get a short list of the best of the best out there, so I don't have to waste time by trial and error to find what works best. Hopefully it is simple, elegant and easy to implement... I'd rather not mess with some bloated system like I have been finding on several free script pages.
