Hi, I am from Auckland NZ. I am self taught in MS Access and a little bit of VBA in excel. SQL is another mystery that I have dabbled on but only when I have to. So I often struggle with the correct terms and syntax but normally get there in the end. I have generally used the old sledge hammer to crack a walnut and some of my databases would be very ugly for an expert to look at, but they work. I have used this forum for a few years and others to solve problems and find solutions. Normally my problems have already been asked and solved by someone else. Whilst I lose lots of hours figuring things out the end results can be very satisfying.

And THAT is why you will always be successful with Access. If the juice wasn't worth the squeeze, you would stop squeezing.

Welcome to AWF!

If you walk through the examples on this forum, you will be very far ahead in your SQL. Great resource and easy to follow.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Sometimes brute force is the answer. Sometimes more subtle dissection is the answer. A personal milestone in the art of DB design has occurred when you realize you have choices - and know what at least some of them are. Keep on crackin' until you learn the more subtle methods.

Welcome to AWF. We can all identify with your terminology and approach woes--- been there. Persistence and tenacity are positive traits.
