Maximum number of people logged in

I have a datbase which gave me problems when I replicated it (answers to the question on a Replication crisis would still be gratefully received).

I used replication because I have users who may log in from various places - did I really need to replicate? What is the maximum number of users advisable for an unreplicated database on a network?

And... is the number of users connected at present a record for this time of day? The World Cup strikes again!

I'm not sure I understand exactly how you use this database. You said that you have several users who logon at a time, but, are they all connected to a corporate network? If so, they all can connect to a common dirive or directory where the application is? If both answers are Yes, I don't think you need to worry about replication. Instead, use the Database Splitter Wizard to split the data tables into a back end and the forms, queries, reports and code into a front end. Then put the front end one each users desktop. The first time you open the application you will need to Relink to the back end mdb on the network then they are good to go. I have several applications set up this way with 20-25 users, although I'm sure there is never more that 7-8 in the application at a time and I've never had a problem.

Replication, as I understand it, would be used if you had something like sales people on the road who needed a copy of the db standalone. Each night they would need to 'replicate' with the original db to refreash and update their tables... but I've never had a need to use it...
