Good Morning - (Access 2010) I have set up a switchboard menu to run a data entry form and some reports. When I click the button to run the data entry form, I get the "Microsoft Access cannot find the object '.'. After I click OK to remove this message, I am able to navigate the form with no problem, and am able to do the data entry and update the table. The form runs fine without going through the switchboard, and I don't get this error when running the reports from the switchboard. Also deleted and recreated the macro for this, but the same error occurs.
Please help.
Thanks.

What is behind the Click event of the button? Code (i.e. Event Procedure or a macro?

Ah, wait! Switchboard. I would imagine it uses a table and a macro, but I can't remember. Can't you recreate the switchboard or at least recreate that menu item.

Hi - Yes I did recreate the menu item, then the switchboard, but that message still shows up. There is no problem with the data entry form itself working. I am able to update the table with it. This is a form/subform, could there be something with that setup? No issue with the other switchboard items, which are reports.

In my experience, when Access Errs out and says cannot find the object '.' it means that somewhere, usually in a Property Box, something such as a Macro name has been placed and then deleted, accidentally leaving behind a period (.). On most screens a single period is so small it's easy to overlook. Access assumes this is a Macro name and, not being able to find a Macro named (.) pops the message you're receiving. Because it is so hard to see, hunting for it can be a bear! First off I'd check any properties you know you've entered/changed recently.

Hard to say without seeing the database. Save your db as an Access 2007 db and upload it here and I'll take a look.

I only need the switchboard and the problem form(s).

Edit: Late response from me :o

Thanks, Missinglinq - I looked through all the macros, and cleaned my computer screen, but didn't find a stray '.'. So I deleted the data entry button, copied and pasted one of the report buttons, edited that, and now the new button works. Glad that's cleared up. Thanks, also, to vbaInet for responding.
