How can i stop a user accidentally skipping records in a filter form view by moving the mouse wheel?

Thanks for you reply,

intresting idea but is there anyway of stopping scrolling this without the user having to modify fields on the record.

I just did a quick search of these forums and found that for you. You might like to do a search and see what all the results say, this topic comes up at least once a month.

Post back if no luck.

I'm confused. Exactly why doesn't ghudson's code (linked above)do what you want? You say

This is the part I don't understand.

i dont want users to be able to skip records even when they are just viewing data i.e not adding or editing whats there through a filtered form view. I could trigger a update to the record on open of the form i.e auto in todays date into a invisable field but its a bit of a messy solution. Just need to get me hands on the .DLL to switch it off.

i cant get the mousewheel.zip example to work although the dll is added in the ref's it comes up with run time error 429 "Active x components can't be created" Any idea's?

Access 2000 as of this morning.

could'nt get em to take it up to XP where i belive all my wheel based problems are said to stop!

I'm getting the same error. I'm working on it though.

It Works!!!

Thanks for all your help its working like a dream! So much better than using the glue option!!

Dang!!!

I have started rolling out my database and am finding that the mouse wheel driver makes it very unstable on some users machines..i.e if they close the database the .ldb stays open and MSACESS.EXE shows in the Task Manager Processes. I also cant get some machines to update there system reg... but this is a wider bad site IT support problem. However...... i have found that if you make a blank form and place the real form (using a subform) into it this stops the record scrolling. But it probably screws up a bunch of other stuff and double the number of forms you will have. So im back to square one Superglue :D

Mice are only a couple of buck per in quantity. Convince your IT department to replace all with wheels?
