Goal is to buy my PC in pieces about $200 per month, then assemble it in about 3 months. Software, monitor, CD/DVD drives, all currently owned, so this is a basic hardware upgrade.

I would check slickdeals too. If you go to the forum and the HOT DEALS section, they have hard drive and memory specials posted every day! I just bought a Maxter 200gb retail from Staples for $40 Retail because of that site. You can usually find deals for at least half the price they normally are in that section.

I'm an AMD man myself, so I can't really comment on your motherboard and processor combination because I haven't researched much on them.

What about a video card?

You will actually get more bang for you buck if you actually safe up money instead, save up the 200 per month over 5 months, and after getting the $1k, you will end up 5 months in the future, able to buy a better CPU, MOBO, and maybe a slight bump to your hard drive.

My 2 cents.
