Need help changing error text on form input masks

In my database I have created input masks for field like post code etc.. These work fine but when invalid data is enterd a massage like "the data did not fit input mask >LL0;99 etc.." . This is oki but for my coursework i need it to say a message i specified in my design for example "The data you eterd was not in the correct format please enter a corect postcode eg. NR1 3FG".

Is this possible?
