network login system - help needed

hi, im about to create a database that will be used over a network.

i realise now that i will need to create a back-end database (stored on a server) consisting of my tables..

and a front end database on each terminal consisting of the forms/reports etc.

i will also need a basic login system for each user.

can anyone recommend a tutorial or some reading material that explains how this can be done, step by step preferably..
