I'm not really a professional programmer, but work as a business intelligence consultant in the insurance world in Europe. I use MS Access quite a bit to process information or to design tools to help certain business sections around tricky IT problems (quick and dirty).
I use MS Access because it is widely available and easy to implement and can better process data than Excel (for example).
