I am probably missing the obvious here but it something that has me really stumped. Any Help would be appreciated.

I have a form with a linked subform. I need a way of when I add a new record the record is created automatically. What happens at the moment is the user can by pass any of the fields on the main form and go straight to the subform, which means that those records they add have the risk off being lost off the Main form as they are no longer linked to the main form.

Do I make sense? Am I being dim.

Thanks in advance

Use the OnEnter event of the subform to validate the Main Form entries.
If IsNull(Me.SomeControl) Then
MsgBox "Enter main detail first dummy!"
SomeControl.SetFocus
End If

Thankyou that works, I was heading in the right direction except I was using

If [SomeForm].SomeField = "" Then
MsgBox "Enter main detail first dummy!"
[SomeForm].SomeField.setfocus
End If

Which did absolutely nothing lol.

Thankyou both very much.
