new to access: populate prebuilt form from record in table/query

hi I'm relatively new to Access, I have 2007 edition, I've figured most things out myself, but a while back I worked at a job where someone had a database built, when looking at a table (it could have been from a query, memory is a little fuzzy on that) if you double clicked on any record it would open a prebuilt form and populate the the form with info from the record allowing you to instantly print the form and file the hard copy, I would like to duplicate this ability for my current database I'm building, I would ask the person who made the original but he moved away, can anyone help me with this???
