Hope someone can assist.

I have created my table. My validation rules are obviously wrong. I set the field size for phone numbers as 11 and set the validation rule to: =11
Whenever I enter 11 characters it gives my validation text.
I can't delete the validation rule.

Do I have to start again or can I modify what I've done. I am using 2007.

Thank you

If your setting the validation rule to = 11 would that not mean that the value in the cell MUST equal 11 for the record to be allowed? That has been my understanding. remove the validation rule, keep your length at 11.

(I can't think of a reason you wouldn't be able to remove a validation rule, you may have to restart that particular table)

Thank you. Basic error on the = 11 (doh)
The validation has now been deleted, don't know why it wouldn't before. Sorry to take up time.

Don't be sorry. I'm glad i could help. Your post said "Newbie at Access "
Newbies are supposed to make mistakes. That's a great way to learn. Now you know what a validation rule does and your a little better at access for it.
Stupid mistakes are only those in which we are not willing to learn from. And learning is never a waste of anyones time. :)
