No Design Grid to work with in Queries

I am new to Access, in general, and Access 2013, in particular, and am not an IT person. I've been following along with Youtube tutorials via "PC Learning Zone". When I try to make a Query, the small Table appears where I'm taking the data from, but there is no Design Grid below to put this data. I've tried scrolling down and still no sign of the design grid. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Double Click on any Field in the Table and it will populate a column in the design grid area.

Still, there appears that there may be something strange about your query creation method.

If you have Access 2013 installed on your computer it should do the following:

When you select Create\Query Design, the default should be a visual QUERY structure with a Table List to pick from. Then you pick one of the tables to show in the Table's section. If that's not happening let us know.

I suspect that you just need to drag the frame up to reveal the bottom part of the design grid. See an image attached.

I had the same thing when I would do a mail merge. The dialog box that would let me pick a list was very narrow, just the top line of the label. After a lot of goggling, some AWF, a lot of kicking the furniture and crying, I found that all I had to do was drag the edge of the dialog box down. It never did fix itself. When I switch computers it went away. I hope that putting in my little bit of history it will help other to be aware of what Big Bill does to us some times.
