Not able to enter data into Table.

i have two tables which are related by IDs.

tble one Inctble (fields):
incident id- pk
incident name:
date
time

tble two Resourcetble (fields):
ResourceID-pk
incidentid-fk
resourec name
resource title


when i try to update resource table, i get the message that "i can not update table without updating related record in incidenttble. when i enter an incident. i return to the resource table ,and i still get the same message.

If you are entering the data into the tables manually I would guess that you are not correlating the related IDs.

To test this in Inctble created a new record. Note the number in the incident id field.

In Resourcetble create a new record. Make sure you use the same number from the first table and put that number in the incidentid (fk) field.

If this doesn't work (a) check the relationships to make sure you are relating the pk to the fk and didn't accidently connect it to another, or (b) make sure the pk and fk fields are the same data type (if the pk is an autonumber, the fk has to be a number -long field).
