Now there's a logo!

Some people need to go back to graphics design school.

That one gets me every time I see it.

...just the three letters?

Can't tell if you missed the joke but, if you did, have you looked at the logo on its side? You don't see anything...amusing... when you do? Or were you just additonally remarking on the irony of paying for the logo?

No, I did get the joke about the logo. ;) But I was also remarking on the irony of paying so much for a logo that is basically just three letters in a row when you're supposed to be an organization that improves government spending efficiency. :D

I was wondering the same thing. 14,000 Pounds for three letters??? Are you serious?

14,000 pounds for three letters carefully put together in a way that makes the world laugh....cheap at twice the price! ;)

But seriously, that's the design that was finally picked but I'm fairly sure there were a lot of other designs created and trialled during the process along with lots of meetings etc.

From what I've seen locally, requests for bids for less than US$10,000 for GIS mapping work attracted zero bids despite public advertising and even direct requests to various consulting firms. The feedback was that none of the consultants could even be bothered with the paperwork for that amount. So, that amount isn't really that that far out of line with reality....even if, yes, any one of us could have done come up with it, but did you submit a bid to the OGC for less and have it declined? If that was the case, then I'd see something to complain about.
