I have a report setup to print labels. I used the report wizard to set up the format and I'm using Avery labels #8460. The labels are supposed to print 3 across and 10 down, so 30 labels. I created the labels at home but when I take the report to work and import it into the database there, it changes for some reason and will only print 3 across and 9 down. It won't print the 10th row of labels. I've tried recreating the labels at work but it still only prints 3x9. I took that same label report home, imported on my PC and the print preview shows 10 rows of labels.

What could be the difference in where I print the labels - at work or at home?
I'm stumped.

This drove me nuts for months. When I converted from A2002 to A2003, all my label reports stopped working. I had to print on other machines. I finally worked out that if I changed the margins slightly, I could get them to print properly again. I'll post the settings that worked for me.

Since I never figured out the cause of the problem, I have to fix any NEW label reports in a similar fashion.

Pat,

Yes, I think the margins are the problem. At home, where it works correctly, the bottom margin is 0.5 but at work it's 0.5216 or something like that. I tried changing it to 0.5 but it won't stick. If I get out of Page Setup and them go back in, it's back to the original settings. Any ideas on making the margins stop resetting themselves?

Thanks,
Rod

That was exactly the problem I had. I posted a picture of the settings which I got to work. I took a little off the top and added a little at the bottom. So instead of being 5 and 5, I got 4 and 6 to work.

If you didn't change Access versions, the problem is probably caused by some windows update. I don't use labels all that frequently. I can go months without printing any so in my case, I had changed from AXP to A2003 between a working label report and the non-working one so I thought the problem was Access. An MVP on one of the Microsoft newsgroups suggested the 4/6 solution and it worked but as I said, on my main PC, the existing label reports have all been changed but if I create a new one, I run into the same problem. The label wizard sets the margins as it always has and something else changes them.

FYI I'm using Win XP Pro with sp2. My printer is an HP deskjet 99Cse that I've had for several years.

I just had a thought. In A2K, the name autocorrect feature caused report margins problems so I always left it off in all my databases. Early last year I created a presentation on the name autocorrect feature for my Access user's group. So to do all my investigation, I had turned the option on in several databases. I wonder if that old bug exists in AXP and A2003?

Have you used the name autocorrect feature?
