ODBC--call failed.
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Timeout expired (#0)
today I came accross this error message and came a bit unstuck, Im not the developer of the database we use, and tried compacting/repairing, also copying the database, I tried many backups from weeks ago, and also refreshing the linked tables and nothing worked. Also the Excel pivots displayed the same error message when i tried to refresh those.
With the developer away, I contacted our IT department who rebooted the server which resolved the problem, however my supervisor insisted it wasnt an server issue, and it was a front end only issue which could have been resolved by me. As I have no access to the design of the database or the queries etc Im struggling to beleive it wasn't the server given the error message being displayed.
Would anyone have any insight on that error message and advise if it could have been resolved using the front end of the database or if indeed it was a server issue.
