I created a report on my PC. It contains a word document. Works great. Im using XP Pro.

When I place the application (along with the word document) on another PC using Professional 2000 and try to print the report I get the following message. "A problem occurred while communicating with the OLE server". Following the message were 3 suggestions: Make sure I am connected to the OLE server, Close OLE server and restart or Reinstall OLE server.

I don't know what an OLE server is, so I can do what the message asks. Can someone point me in the right direction to get this working.

Thanks....

Sounds like Word isnt installed on the second machine. OLE means object linking & embedding, the object still needs Ms Word to work.

Patrick

If the second PC has Norton Antivirus installed try disabling the script blocking in NAV and then try your report.

Documented by Symantec but the solution hasn't come in the last 2 years!

Nothing like a 2 year work-around. They even have legacy workarounds because they can't fix their product!

Guys:

Thanks for the replies. As far as the 2nd PC not having Word, it does. I even tried recreating the report from scratch on the 2nd PC and I got the same error message. I will try the Norton Anti-Virus suggestion.

Thanks again....

I think the problem is the versions of word being different on the 2 machines.
I had this problem a while back with image linking, the answer was to ensure that both machines are using the same software versions.

My difficulty is with Access which refuses to function,, saying that there is a problem while Microsoft Office Access was communicating with the OLE server or ActiveX control.
I don't understand what it signifies. Can someone help me in a simple way, without many difficult terms?
Nico
