using a select query i am trying to omit data.

I do not want any records with £999 in the total field considered.

However my "rank query" which is part of the select query i am working on, still ranks those records that have been omitted using "Not 999" or "<>999" in the criteria box.

Here is the sql from the query

SELECT TOP 10 bets.ID, bets.bettotal, bets.bettotal2, bets.bettotal3, bets.bettotal4, bets.bettotal5, bets.bettotal6, bets.bettotal7, bets.bettotal8, bets.total1, ranktable.rank
FROM ranktable INNER JOIN bets ON ranktable.ID = bets.ID IN '//race\temp\scanner.mdb'
WHERE (((bets.ID) Between 1 And 200) AND ((bets.total1)<>999) AND ((ranktable.rank)=[rank]))
ORDER BY ranktable.rank;

i hope i make sense

Do it in two queries, the first where you exclude the 999, then create another query based on this where you grab the Top 10.
