Good day folks,
I am using Access 2000 and I import fixed width text files on a dialy basis, however for sometime now whenever this data contains the pound symbol "£" the line of data within the text file that has the pound symbol in it, it changes it to this "┬ú" and this in turn pushes the data that comes after it out of alignment on importing that text file. On import an import error table is created and a type converstion is recorded. The field that it gets imported into is a text field which allows upto 250 characters.
If I manually enter the pound symbol into the text field access doesn't complain or generate any error messages, so I'm somewhat lost as to why this occurs.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions as what I could look for.
Your assistance would be gratefully received.
Regards
John
