more of a technical musing than anything else...
is it more efficient (trying to limit database size) to store data as numbers or as text?
eg if i have a forklift i could call it "forklift one" or i could call it by its asset number "01.23456" or even "1" as first on the list in a machine table with an autonum.
it seems the third option is the smallest in size, but what about the concept of option one vs option two (assuming same number of characters)
