afternoon all,

I have a slight problem, not serious but just irritating - i have recently moved to a different pc at work (a Pentium4 instead of a Pentium2:D ). since i moved access (97) has been having problems. I have a variety of Dbs and usually access them by duble clicking on their icon in one of my folders on the network drive, however, since i moved PCs these icons do not work - access comes up with an error message saying
"a system error occured, or there is not enough memnory to start access. please close other programs and start again".

I have tried closing all other programs but it makes no difference. the IT support desk of my company tried but failed to resolve the problem.

I can open the databases by first opening access and then selecting the appropriate db from the list, however i find this a hassle! does anyone know how to sort this out?

thanks,

Sounds like your file associations have gone astray. Open Explorer and go Tools\Folder Options\File Types. Look for the entry for MDB which should show this as opening with MS Access. Either this entry is missing, so you should add it, or it's corrupted, in which case I would delete it and re-create it.

:D

good work neileg! problem solved...and now i even have access 2000 style icons instead of 97!
