How do I make it an option to open the Microsoft Access Database file in a read only or edit mode? I know I have seen it done, I am just not sure how to do it. Also, how can I prevent multiple users to be in edit at the same time? I don't want them to save over each others information being multiple people will have access to this file.

Multiple users: You need to split your front end (forms, queries, etc) from your backend (tables). Tables get stored on a shared server, front-end usually goes on their machine, but can get delivered via Terminal Services or something similar. Search the forums for database splitting.

Not sure if this is what you mean by 'read only or edit mode', but you should look into your Options screen for hiding the database window, opening a switchboard form automatically, etc.
