Populating Form from Datasheet subform

I have a check register that lists all the checks I would like to be able to double click on the check number in the data sheet and have it pull up the record in the data entry form above it. Both forms are embedded in a tabbed form.

I have tried in the doulbe click event

Forms!me.checknumber=check.checknumber

and that doesn't work any ideas.
