I have a report with multiple sorting and grouping. It also has multiple columns. Each new column is a new day with multiple jobs listed down. When this report prints, it only prints one row of days on each page.

My question is: How can I get 2 rows to print on 1 page? I'm wondering if I have some kind of grouping property wrong.

I hope this makes sense. It's kind of hard to explain.

I have set my grouping property in the Sorting and grouping window to "Whole Group" so that it would keep it on one page, but it doesn't.
Maybe this has something to do with it. I have 6 columns going down then accross. I want them to go down and accross then, starting halfway down the page go down and accross again. Instead of starting half way down the page, it starts a new page. I know there is room because I have made the font small enough and I have set the "shrink to fit" property. Is there some other property or something that I don't know about?

Hi Michelle

You can make a report that has columns - for example the Labels Wizard does this very successfully (so you can have 2 columns of 8 labels, or 3 columns of 10 labels etc).

You need to make sure your fields only go less than half way across the detail section of your report (for 2 columns). Then go to File-Print Setup and choose the third tab - Columns. Here you can select how many columns, the spacing between Columns (the gutter), the spacing between Rows, the size etc.

I've chosen the columns setting and my columns fit, but at the bottom off that box you can chose whether your columns go accross then down or down then accross. I have chosen down then accross. My first 6 columns go accross the page fine, with everything correctly aligned under them, then my next 6 columns always start on the next page. There's room on the first page for the next set of columns but it always goes to the next page. Maybe there is something wrong with a height setting? Could that be a problem.

Hi Michelle

I am not too sure what the problem is. Are you sure the area of the detail section (and possibly other group headers/footers) aren't too wide?

Have you tried re-creating the report using the Label Wizard - then tinkering around with Groupings afterwards.
