I am trying to use MS Access 2007 on a Windows Vista machine to 'print-to-file' a report that has only text (letters and numbers, no graphics). I am using the "Generic/Text only" printer. I view the resulting .txt file in notepad.
Here are 2 examples of the problem:
1) In the actual printed report there are blank lines, correctly; in the print-to-file there are no blank line.
2) Dates in the actual printed report are formatted as "12 07 1996"; in the print-to-file it is "12071996"

I have created a new "generic/Text only" printer with the same result. Don't know what the version is of the print driver. Probably picked up the most-current.

I get the same result in print and print preview.

The file is to be sent to a billing system that will parse the text file (based on the pre-defined locations of each field and reformat it into a standard U.S. medical billing file.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Bill Echert

Could you use a query and export to text delimited?
