Our company runs manufacturing software based on an Access application which links through ODBC to a database running on SQL Server 2000.

I've created a new table in the database on the server, I want to create an ODBC link to this through Access (2002). I go to the tables section and I can see ODBC links to all existing tables, I then try to 'Link Table' which brings up the file selection box. If I select ODBC Link in the file criteria Access completely crashes. I'm following instructions I've been given by the software developer and have told them my problem but they haven't got a solution for me - does anybody have any ideas?

I've installed the latest MDac from Microsoft.

All help appreciated :)

Thanks,

Bryn.

Quick bump - hope someone has the answer to this one :)

Have you tried importing all of your current objects in Access into a new db? You may have a corrupt mdb file causing the crash...

If this and the suggestion your following from the manufacturer fails I'd try reinstalling Office and see if that takes care of the problem...

Thanks for the reply Kevin. I've tried to create the link on all 7 of our network pcs (running WinXP), I (previously) tried to create a link from a new mdb file and I also tried reinstalling Office without success...

Strangely though, I tried creating a link in a new mdb today and... it worked! I then tried to add a link in the existing mdb and that worked too! I really don't know why its working fine now but needless to say I'm feeling very happy now :D

Cheers,

Bryn.
