Problem Editing Sub Form

Hi All,

I have a db which contains a form and a subform for information to be entered if required - I can edit information in the sub form when the data has been previously entered but am unable to enter any information when it is a new "sub record"! The error message states something about the form not being editable or read only - where am I going wrong?

Without seeing it, it is hard to guess. But, the liklihood is that you either don't have an updatable query assigned to the subform, your relationships are wrong, or you have the Master/Child links set up wrong on the form.

If you can post a copy of your database, we can probably track it down quicker. I'm guessing (and it's probably a 95% chance) that you don't have the design quite "there" as far as normalization and all. That's based on experience of seeing things here on the forum over the years.

To post the database, make sure to compact it first (Tools > Database Utilities > Compact and Repair) and then zip it using WinZip, or something like it. The final compacted and zipped file should be 393KB or less to post here. Then you click the Go Advanced button in the forum window and down near the bottom of the resulting page there is a button titled "Manage Attachments" which you would use.
