Problem when opening a form - even in design view!

I have just made some changes to my DVD database to make the reference to the cover images relative instead of a fully qualified pathname. The change went smoothly, but for some weird reason when the form initially opens it tries to reference a file from teh old directory. This reference occurs even before the open function of the form is executed and I even get the error when opening the form in "Form Design".

Any ideas how I cvan track down what's going on here? Is there any user code executed when a form is opened in Design View?

Mike,

This is "abnormal" behaviour for Access. When something
like this happens:

1) Backup your db
2) Tools --> Database Utilities --> Repair/Compact
3) If all else fails, import everything into a new, blank db.

I tried the repair and no luck.

When I transfer all the to a new DB I get the error when I try and paste the troubled form into the new DB.

I've gone back to old versions of the DB and they all have this error - trying to open a now non-existant file.

I'd hate to have to try and re-create the bad form.

I've had that happen to me before and I did have recreate the "bad" form. :mad:

Thanks Mile-O-Phile for the great news! :(

However, there is a silver lining to this cloud. I started the process of re-building the form by copying elements from the bad form... checking all was good every few elements. As luck would have it the third element I transferred was the cause of the problem.... it was a picture element that had a hard coded picture file name in the properties. Changing it to (none) fixed my problem. I'm not sure how it got there in the first place since earlier versions of the DB do not have it there, but at least it's fixed now.

I guess I understand now why there was even a problem opening the file for design.
