Purely Aesthetic Concern - New Buttons

I currently have a databse which - largely thanks to a lot of you on these forums - now works perfectly and does pretty much everything I need it to.
I've recently added some new commands to the main switchboard, and am now getting a little bored of the flat, grey-buttoned look of the databse.

Is it possible to import rather more aesthetically pleasing buttons (preferably those written in Flash) into Access? I did a little poking around, but can't find any kind of command which states where the standard button graphic is located, so I assume I can't do this simply by linking to the location of the new button.

I don't remember who gave me this example. It has examples of many custom buttons someone created and made into this database for your enjoyment. You can use these examples to create your own buttons in the same way too. Hope this helps.

Here is an example of how to create your own buttons through Adobe ImageMaker or other web applications, save them a gif or jpeg file and insert them into your forms.

Simple VBA for this example (Access 2000, see below for Access 97 version) which uses pictures as buttons. Might make the file big if you use huge buttons.

Got the buttons from www.CoolText.com

Not sure how you'd apply this to a switchboard though. Only way I know of for the standard buttons in Access are to put bmp files as an image on the button but bmp files are to big for my tastes.

Here's an Access97 version as requested.

the only thing is that if you accidentally press the button I think you can't just move you mouse to not press it. Press it and move your mouse. You'll see what I mean.

You could set the code to run under the Double-Click event.

I originally had three pictures for one button.

1) One for when you had your mouse over the "Button".

2) One for when you your mouse wasn't over the "Button".

3) And One for when you clicked the "Button".

I think this is how I did it.

Create a command button and set it to transparent. Put the button images such that they overlap the button and be sure to bring the button to the front.

Then just use the me.Image.Visible = True or False method to hide the images appropriately.

This should be the same method as Vassago's linked sample db file, I probably got it from that sample database!!

For some reason, I think that at one point in time I was able to have it change the image when the mouse rolled over the button and not just when the button has the focus. Maybe I'm remembering it wrong.

Found it!! All three examples are in this database.

I didn't come up with this approach, some sample database I found. When I figure out where I got it, I'll post the reference here. Can't take credit for something I didn't come up with on my own, can I?
