Query in Design View as a Subform

There are two Forms. The parent form and the child form. The child form source data is a query. Is it possible to open up the subform in the parent form in query design mode?

I want to do this b/c customized menus can only be referenced from a form. It can't be referenced from a query in Design mode.

Any guidance is appreciated.
