I have a simple select pramater query which requests
first/ a text input using the Like [Inv No] & "*" Second the Between [From] And [To] which are date critria and third another Like [Enter the first character(s) of Customer] & "*" to select an account this report gives a selected history of a customers purchase invoices. My problem is if there is no invoice number in the first parameter then nothing is returned, only invoiced jobs. I would like to show also those jobs without an invoice If I use a * in the first section the other parameters are ignored and I get everything but not the non-invoiced jobs.

any help appriciated.

thanks in advance
Steve

I don't usually create parameter queries of this type for the very reason you posted! They are not very flexible. You are always prompted for every parameter and you can't make selections from list or combo boxes.

You can try using the IIf function to test for various conditions in your query. Maybe you can check for a * in your invoice number.

Other than that, I would suggest creating a form with 3 fields and a command box. You'll need some VBA in there to pull up the query results, but you will be better off for it in the long run. Just IMHO.

If you can't get a parameter query solution to work and you're interested in coding this on a form, write back, and I (or someone else) can help you out.
