I have been tasked with amending a database written by my predeccesor in Microsoft Access 97. However, he has not prefixed any of his tables, queries or forms or report names which I was always taught was fundemental to database design. I want tbl_ before each table name, Qry_ before each query, Rpt_ before each report name....you get the idea (the field names can stay as they are). Problem is if I rename all of the objects its going to be an absolute minefield updating all of the references and the query sql's. Has any smart alec outthere written a clever utility to handle all of this for me? Any help most appreciated...

Regards,

NEIL

I've seen a few utilities on the net for such things though I can't remember exactly where. Try doing a net search for 'db naming conventions'.

If you don't have any luck post back and I will try to dig up some links for you.

I'd recommend that you ditch the underscore in the name to tbl, rpt etc.

It's a lot easier to work with and less prone to error when working with SQL.
