Does the expression builder for formating in the detail section of a report work normally?

I entered the expression:

=format([Date], "mmmm d, yyyy")

I wanted to have the date come out as March 3, 2002 but I get an error message. Whats wrong with this procedure?

Do this instead:
Format([Date],"mmmm dd\,yyyy") and see if it works.
