Ok... I need help one more time. I am running a report based off of a query, pretty simple. However, on the form that I created, I have two equations that were built in the 'control source' for the field. I'm not sure how to save these fields on my table, so that they will store the data. Currently, the equations work on the form, but the information is not storing for me to report on.

in the control source it states =[Total Hours on LOA]/[Hours Per Shift] which brings the appropriate calculation on the form. Where do I store this data for retrieval and then reporting?

I hope that makes sense!

THANK YOU!
Heather

Heather, it is not a good practice to store calculated data in a table. If your data changes, then the calculated data is not changed. Storing calculated data in tables goes against the principals of data bases.

Calculations should be done in a form, report or a query. If all the raw information is in the table, then you can get the calculations as needed.

In your case, since your report is based upon a query, why not create an expression in a new field in your query. Then when you run your report based upon the query, the calculated data will be brought forward.

Thank you! I actually tried that while waiting and it worked perfectly! I was not aware of the storing issue, but that makes sense. Thank you for your help!
