Requery control on subform

When I try to requery a control on a subform, I get an error message that says I can't appy a filter here. I am successfull in requerying on a regular form, so I do the same thing on the subform and zilch. Is it possible to requery a control on a subform?
Here is how I REquery - Action: Requery. Control Name: the control name with no brackets or referenceing. I put it on onEnter. Which by the way, why dosn't it work on after update?

You have to let access know that you are doing a requery on the subform and not the form.

Enter something like this;

[Forms]![MainFormName]![SubFormName].[Form]![ControlName].Requery
