Retaining an ID on a form - is there a better way.

Hello,

I currently have a form which enables a user to make appointments for a salesperson. The form has a calendar control and a subform which lists the appointment details ie date, time, status etc.

The subform runs of a query where I have as a parameter the salespersons id. Therefore when you open the appointments form you are requested to enter the salespersons id. You can then select a date from the calendar to see appointments already made or make new ones.

This works fine, however each time you select a date from the calendar you are required to enter the salespersons id. I was wondering whether there was a better way of approaching this so when the form was opened you would not have to keep entering the salespersons id.

Look forward to any suggestions.

Thank you

I guess you are using a parameter prompt in the query to get the user input. If you create a text box on your form to capture the ID, you can then refer this text box as the criteria for your queries. You only have to populate this box once. As a refinement, you could use a combo box listing the person name and ID so your users don't have to wonder what the ID is for an individual.
