Retaining field values during data entry

Hello everyone: I have created a data entry screen in Microsoft Access. I want to retain two field values when entering one new record after another. If users have 15 records to enter, and all 15 records are for the same special collection - such as Christmas - I don't want to have to force the user to keep selecting the same special collection name over and over. How and where would I retain that field value between record saves? I believe VBA is the answer, but I'm very new to Microsoft Access and VBA.

I used this method a good few years back.
chkCopy is a checkbox that indicates whether I should copy data from the previous record or not.

Private Sub Date_ID_AfterUpdate()
    If Me.chkCopy Then
        Me![Date_ID].DefaultValue = """" & Me![Date_ID].Value & """"
    End If
End Sub

Use in each control where you want it.
