Hello. I have a user who is repeatedly receiving this error message: Run Time has Elapsed -- Application will Shut Down. It then proceeds to knock her out of the database. She is the only person in a user group of about 20, who is having this problem. The events that trigger this message are not constant. One time she might be entering a value into a field, another time she might be running a report -- it varies. Does anyone know what might be causing this error?

I take it you have not put in some "kick 'em off" code in the db? Are they working from a server?

There is no Kick-'em off code. I actually tried that at one point but it didn't work because when people walked away from their desks and their workstation "went to sleep" it didn't kick them off. And yes, this database is on a shared drive on a server. The server has not gone down or anything like that since this has been happening.

I believe you can tell a server to do this per user.

Yes, we used to do that using Citrix. If a session was idle for more than 20 minutes, the user would get a message and then get kicked off.

Then we bought new servers and no longer had to enforce it. Could be your terminal services manager has that user set up with a timeout?
