Safety Stock calculation

Hi,

Can anybody point me in the right direction as to which formulas in Excel can be used to calculate an inventory safety stock model? How do I use the formulas? And what are the best practice techniques for computing safety stock?

MIGHT be able to help, but didn't really understand your question. What is safety stock?

Are you doing anything like trying to calculate reorder levels based on usage and lead time?

This might be a case where Access would be the better tool.
You can make Excel do what you need here, but if you ever leave someone else has to figure out what you were thinking.

You could have a sheet/cell range that holds order points and then refer to them in the formula on conditional format to turn the cell red or whatever you want. But again, I am not convinced Excel is the correct tool in the first place.
