Hi Everybody
what does this means:
"if a poster helps you, please click the scales at the bottom left of this posting, or use the thanks button alongside"

I think
1) in part, it's an outdated reference to the way the site used to look, but still a good reminder to Like helpful posts
2) when a thread is started as a "Question" (type=Question), then there are Up and Down buttons where you can upvote or downvote an answer. Unfortunately, the concept of starting a thread as a Question is rarely used, and thus the system is largely out of scope in day to day usage. edit - as isladogs reminded me this only available on modules & vba forum

I for one am very liberal with my Likes, but I have noticed this is not necessarily the norm and in fact is rare. Some people probably feel clicking Like costs their ego a little bit or something - but I try to be very liberal with them, using them whenever someone posts anything particularly good or on-target. Who knows, maybe "karma" is real, because my like percentage is also high :)

There used to be a thank you button in the shape of a scale.

Thank you very much, I tried a lot to search for this method to be adopted in the way of interacting with people who provide help, but I failed, now I will try to be like you on the topic of liking and I will try to open the topics as questions to see this feature that you talked about

I don't think the upvote feature has anything to do with specifying a question in a new thread.
IIRC, the option is only available in specific forums - in particular, Modules & VBA.
It certainly isn't widely used

The old Scales button was actually used for a reputation points system. There was a separate button used for Thanks

You're right - it's unfortunately only implemented in that forum. Also, the thread has to be posed as a 'question'.

I wonder if that could be the default in most of the "question" type forum sections, maybe it would get more use?

Yes @Minty, it is a good idea. Regretfully, there is no easy way to do it in the backend. Apparently, I would have to do some query in the phpadmin on the service to update the raw data in the database and I am nervous about doing such malarky.
