Scan barcode to a table

I don't want to derail this thread but couldn't you just create your own catalog ID and assign the barcode data to that? Something like 64.000030 = chlorine, 64.000031 = bleach.

Instead of (15) 170906 (10) 03-9190 (240) 481971 = bleach for this vendor, and 100 25 69 = bleach for a different vendor.

Was going to suggest something like that but waiting on response to last question as it could get messy depending on the answer.
 
Sorry for the delay guys...i got a little more information but it's not much.
I found out that the numbers in the brackets are always the same and also none of the elements are fixed....they could be anything (because they come from different suppliers).
We can't change the bar code in any way because it would cause problems elsewhere.
