Schedule tournament games randomly

Hello,

I am trying to schedule games of teams in the same league. I have four courts which play four nights a week. I do not want the same two teams to play each other more than once unless they must to fill the schedule, and in that case not the same team as the week before. I want to fill up the earlier court times first. If there is an uneven number of teams one team would get bye, meaning they would not have a team to play and I would mark it a win (manually). The league lengths are not always constant so I am thinking I would just set up the schedule for a specified number of games and then assign dates to them. I will be using some sort of activeX calendar to set dates to exclude as well. A team could play multiple leagues on the same night, which would be on different courts so they could not be playing at the same time.

I guess basically I want to randomly assign the matches according to those rules.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have searched high and low for clues to no avail.
