Every once in awhile I get the following error...

Microsoft Visual Basic
Run-time error '3709':
The search key was not found in any record.

This happens when I click a command button that is supposed to open a report.

When it happens, it does not save the record.
The only thing that fixes it, is a compact and repair.

Has anyone encountered this before?

Hi. This may not apply to you; but most of the times when I see that error, I look for Null values in the data.

In a specific field? Or all fields?

How can I find them?

Anywhere where they are not supposed to be. For example, if you have a control on your report that uses a function, maybe that function is causing the problem if the data is null. Just a thought...

Generally, when I see that error, it points to a corrupted table/database.

Is the report based on data from Excel (imported or linked)? If so, check all field names for 1 or more leading spaces.
