Searching part of name?

i currently have a search feature that opens a pop-up text box where users enter the name of the port. but it searches for exact names is there any way it can search for likeness or part of a port name rather than only displaying results that match exactly?

eg. port name is barrow-in-furness

can i search for barrow and get the same result if i typed the whole name??

There's a database in the examples forum which shows all names in a listbox and gradually reduces the list the more letters you type into a ComboBox and refine the search.

neat, thanxs, but can this be done in a simular way but using a pop-up box and not showing the results getting filtered just the end result?

how will you know when the end result is? if you type in "Barrow" (as a part name) it could still mean several places

maybe.
but what about if the user types whole name but mispelss part? or leaves no spaces or whatever?
can i not make a 'like' search?
