Hi all,

My name is Seb I am a doctor in London just getting started with Access. I've not much background in programming but I am prepared to work hard through it! I'm "good with computers and stuff" and also have an extensive background in film and photography. I've been using tutorials on Lynda.com to help me learn how to use access and would say that I have a fair grounding so far.

The PROJECT
I'm trying to create an access database to store patient records for my department so that things can run more reliably and smoothly for doctors on the front line like myself. At the momment we're using a highly unstable excel system which has very limited functionality and is an absolute pain to try and do retrospectives on as it's been formatted so badly,

The pieces of the puzzel (tables)
Patient data
Inpatient Episodes
Doctor data
Consultant data
Ward data
Handover section where jobs to do can be stored and updated

It's going to be a multiaccess database so when it's ready it will need to be split into front and backends.... It will be developed into an access application so that end users can mess with all the components!

It will need some measure of security and potentially an individual user log on section...

ANY help you can provide for this would be gratefully appreciated. Any resources that you know exist for this I will devouer. The more I think about it the more complex it is as a begginer.....I'm beginning to create the tables and the basic components.... but not wanting to reinvent the wheel I'm sure there are models I can use to help me get started right?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I Look forward to perusing the forums. :)
