Security clearance to change only certain fields?

Hi All,
I am a brand new Access user. I would like to create some kind of security mechanism to protect certain fields from getting changed.

First of all, I would want the entire database to be readable to everyone in our office. And I would want all users to be able to change data in fields such as “name.” But for more sensitive fields such as “income,” I want only certain users to be able to change the data.

Does anyone know how to do this? Is this even possible with Access? (I’m using Access 2000 and 2002.)

Just a note but "name" is a devoted acronym in Access. You might want to change it to EmpName or you will have problems down the road.
