I have an inventory form.
What I have created is a select query to open a form after asking for the serial number.

This works easily, what I am confused about is after viewing or editing information based on 1 item, how can I open the enter serial number message box again without closing the form and opening it up again.

hopefully to eliminate confusion
open form - enter serial number (12345 entered)
form opens - (data is viewed, text entered in comments block etc)

now I have another item that needs viewing/updating.

I am thinking about adding a button on the form that runs the query again but I think that will create confusion in the database. Is this so?? and if it will cause problems, what methods are available to fix this

Thanks in advance.

No thats not quite it
I have posted my database. Open up the testform form, enter 0591129231 as the serial number.

You can see that there is a status box.

After viewing/editing I want to be able to enter another serial number (from hard copy records) to view edit another piece of equipment

Thanks for the assistance so far

:o Hello Brewmeister!

I saw your ".mdb", I add a COMBO BOX in testform.
Try it, I think it is what you wont. I hope that the
serial number is unique.
