Select single record within report

I have read on this forum that you should not print from a form, rather you should design a report similar to the form and print from this.

I have done this with both the form and report based on a single table. However, I see no way to search for a specific record within the report as one can in the form. Is there a method to add a prompt for a specific field value such as "LastName" or "PatientID" so the report will show that specific record without having to do a "scroll search"?
