Sending e-mail through Outlook Express

I have a module set up to send e-mails through Outlook and it does work.... but here is the problem:

Currently, both Outlook and Outlook Express are installed on the machine with the database and the user has his e-mail account set up in Outlook Express. The code is sending the mail to Outlook, not Express.

Would uninstalling Outlook solve this problem or does the code need to be changed when using Outlook Express?

I am having a similar problem and I am not sure there is a solution. Outlook Express is set as the default mapi application and for example if I follow an email link in explorer it uses outlook express. However all office apps I have tried ( access, word and excel ) use outlook. I think it is related to one or both of the following using office 2003 and/or that we are in the process of setting up small business server / exchange. Despite much research I have not been able to come up with a way of turning off Outlook. It seems to be microsoft's intention that you have to use outlook. If anyone has any more info it would be gratefully recieved. There is no real reason not to use outlook but I quite like the simplicity of OE.

You may need to bear in mind that Microsoft XP regards mail being sent to Oulook via VBA coding as a potential virus. It therefore will trap each "send". The conseqence is that for any bulk mailing, you will have to accept each individual e-mail. There is a method to switch this off but as it drastically lowers your pc security settings, this may not be wise.
I have the code for the intergation with Outlook if you are interested - including an addition that allows attachments.

regarding the security issue that's true but as the PCs are all in a safe environment behind a firewall and all with up to date antivirus software there is no issue in overiding the security settings for outlook. It would just be nice to be able to use OE but I suspect that is not possible.
